Immuron has revealed that IMM‑124E—the proprietary bovine colostrum ingredient used in its over‑the‑counter Travelan® and Protectyn® products—exhibited neutralizing activity against SARS‑CoV‑2 in vitro, in studies conducted by a Melbourne-based CRO using virus from the Peter Doherty Institute. All four production lots tested inhibited viral replication at non‑toxic concentrations and improved cell viability by 180% to 260% compared to placebo. While the findings warrant further exploration of IMM‑124E for gastrointestinal targeting of COVID‑19, the company stresses this was a laboratory result only and not evidence of clinical benefit in humans.
