Immuron Ltd saw a notable spike in its share price—trading up more than 20%—following the release of promising experimental data on Travelan® sourced from collaborations with the U.S. Department of Defense. The study, conducted using a Shigella challenge model involving rhesus monkeys, showed that while all four placebo-treated animals developed acute dysentery, only two of eight Travelan‑treated animals displayed symptoms, meaning 75% of the treated group remained healthy. Additionally, histopathological and inflammatory cytokine analyses revealed substantially reduced gastrointestinal inflammation and lower fecal cytokine levels in the Travelan group, reinforcing the product’s potential as a protective oral immunotherapy for enteric infections.
